Research

The Diabetes Wellington Research Fund is a local research trust set up from a generous bequest, which researches diabetes issues in Wellington.

Advocacy

Through regional and national meetings, we give voice to issues of importance that affect people locally in Wellington and in New Zealand via Diabetes New Zealand.

Locally, the Wellington Diabetes Team and Hutt Valley Locality Team develop better services for people with diabetes through cooperation and communication between medical agencies and people with diabetes.

Diabetes Awareness

Diabetes Wellington organises and participates in public awareness campaigns the main efforts are for the national Awareness Week every year, and World Diabetes Day on November 14th.

Opportunities for raising people’s awareness about diabetes are also taken for one-off events like International Day of Older Persons, World Women’s Expo, local fairs and health days.
